Description
HO ME
Following the installation Genius Loci by Anna Rispoli produced by Wiels and BRXLBRAVO, unused lamps are offered by the residents of Forest to create a "luminaria", a light sculpture in the window of Speedy Wash which combines the publc space dimension of the former launderette with the domestic nature of the displayed objects.
Outside Speedy Wash, Teresa Sdralevich's large format posters evoke the serenity of the home. Yet the proximity of a shelter located in the same building alters the meaning of the artist's intervention: the hope of finding the comfort of a real house in the context of the housing crisis. The phosphorescent ink gives a "glow in the dark" effect to the posters when the lights go out.
Finally, the notion of gift at the basis of Genius Loci is prolonged on a gift wrap designed by Sdralevich. This screenprinted paper is distributed to the neighboring shopkeepers, who continue to spread its message in this Christmas season.
