On the occasion of So Far So Good, the survey exhibition of Walter Swennen at WIELS, Bart Verschaffel gives a presentation in which he elucidates the painter's method.

Philosopher Bart Verschaffel (b. 1956) is full professor in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Ghent University. He authored numerous publications in the fields of Architectural Theory, Aesthetics and Art Criticism, and Philosophy of Culture, and has dedicated monographs to the work of Balthus and Jan Fabre, as well as to the traditional genres of painting. In 1991, he wrote an essay juxtaposing the 'new painting' of Hans Vandekerckhove and Walter Swennen.
