Tris Vonna-Michell (b. 1982, Southend-on-Sea, UK) is a British artist, who stages installations and performs narrative structures, using spoken word, sound compositions and photography.

Through live performances and installations, Tris Vonna-Michell creates circuitous, multilayered narratives, characterised by fragments of information, detours and repetitions designed to confuse and enlighten in equal measure. Together with Diana Kaur he runs Mount Analogue, a publishing, curatorial, and editorial space based in Stockholm.

His recent solo exhibitions include Turner Prize 2014, Tate Britain, London; VOX, Centre de l’image contemporaine, Montreal (2014); Postscript II (Berlin), Jan Mot, Brussels. Recent group exhibitions include Un Nouveau Festival, Centre Pompidou, Paris (2014); Unrest of Form. Imagining the Political Subject, Secession, Vienna; The Butterfly Image, MUDAM, Luxembourg (2013); Reactivation, 9th Shanghai Biennial (2012); The Other Tradition, WIELS, Brussels (2011).

This talk is part of SIDETRACKS, a lecture series on narrative trails in art & design, organised by Sint Lucas Antwerpen / St Lucas University College of Art & Design Antwerp.
