Jean De Lacoste

(b. 1984, La Louvière; lives and works in Brussels)

Residency

Belgian video artist and musician Jean De Lacoste (b. 1984) graduated from the E.R.G., Brussels, in 2009. As a filmmaker, Jean De Lacoste explores the phenomenological perception of familiar places (related to memories, anecdotes, family...) and non-places which don’t really belong to anyone but through which we pass. The artist tries to suggestively translate the «affects» related to those places through his editing of images and sounds. As a musician, Jean D.L. develops a universe at once intimistic and noisy, made of hazy soundscapes. Jean D.L. has worked in solo but has also collaborated with the likes of S. Biset, B. Drugmand (aka Impostor), Sébastien Karkoszka, Zbigniew Karkowski, Mauro A. Pawlowski & Teun Verbruggen (Stahlmus Delegation), Antoine Boute, Othin Spake, Soumonces!, Noir, Jozef Van Wissem…
