About this event
Mark Godfrey is a curator at the Tate Modern in London, where he curated, among other shows, the retrospective of Francis Alÿs. He is a regular contributor to Frieze, Artforum, October, and Parkett. In 2007 Yale University Press published his book "Abstraction and the Holocaust," an examination of artistic and architectural responses to the Holocaust in America.
For his lecture at Wiels, Mark Godfrey will look at the ways a number of artists use photography in works which address historical narration, such as Sven Augustijnen, Mario Garcia Torres, Christopher Williams, Matthew Buckingham, Emily Jacir, Omer Fast, and Simon Starling.
