Description
Every last Saturday of the month, from 10.30am to 1pm, children discover non-commercial kids movies. The films are selected for their quality and originality. In the creative environment of Wiels Centre for Contemporary Art, short films, innovative fictions, animation classics are screened. Parents who wish to attend the screenings are also welcome! After the movie a bilingual workshop (approximately 1 hour) allows children to unwind their imagination around the theme of the film. Participants experiment with different artistic disciplines, while a creative and sensitive approach to Dutch is also stimulated.
This month :
- "L'herisson dans le brouilard", Youri Norstein, 1975, USSR, 8', restricted dialogue. A hedgehog is on his way to his best friend, a bear. On his way the hedgehog sees a horse disappear in the mist and wonders how it would be to walk in the mist
- "Abracadrabra", Frederick Back, 1970, Canada, 9'20, without dialogue.
An evil wizard wants to steal the sun from heaven. A little girls goes looking for it, together withs some other children and with the help of her flying umbrella...
- "La création des oiseaux", Frederick Back, 1972, Canada, 10', without dialogue.
After a beautiful summer, fall comes in the shape of a threatening monster. The people are getting ever colder, and the snow starts to fall. A little girl implores the weather god to let the sun return. He starts to feel compassion for her.
- "Bottle", Kristen Lepore, 2011, USA, 6', without dialogue. Two little figures, on both sides of the ocean, communicate with one another through a bottle. A student film that won several prizes.

April is the month of rain, sun, and maybe even snow. April is the month in which the weather gods hold their annual meeting. We make our own windmill to give the arriving spring a helping hand.
