About this event
Roman Road Publishing is pleased to present Cyanotypes, a comprehensively illustrated book featuring over thirty-five cyanotype prints by the contemporary artist Thomas Mailaender. Realised during the past year of his practice, the images in this finely printed volume designed collaboratively by Ditto Press and the artist, explore and bring together Mailaender’s new artistic venture: the cyanotype process. Combining a traditional printing method with amateur and amusing Internet images drawn from his ‘Fun Archive’ – a personal collection of absurd, anonymous pictures – Cyanotypes explores and attests Mailaender’s ability to orchestrate unlikely and fond objects through his art with ingenuity and wit. Thomas Mailaender will be signing purchased copies of the book at the launch.
Born in 1979, Thomas Mailaender is a French multimedia artist living and working between Paris and Marseille. His work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in major art institutions and festivals internationally, such as at the Centre Pompidou, France and at the International Festival of Photography, Getxo, Spain. His next upcoming solo show will feature at Festival Images in Vevey in September 2014. Known for his witty and often impudent works, Mailaender’s oeuvre entertains with its curious and conspicuous displays.
