Cine Club for Kids: Wood Plum

Every last Saturday of the month, from 10am to 1pm, children between five and twelve years old discover non-commercial kids movies. The films are selected for their quality and originality. In the creative environment of Wiels Centre for Contemporary Art, Dutch versions of the short films, innovative fictions, animation classics are screened. Parents who wish to attend the screenings are also welcome! After the movie a bilingual workshop (approximately 1 hour) allows children to unwind their imagination around the theme of the film. Participants experiment with different artistic disciplines, while a creative and sensitive approach to Dutch is also stimulated.

The first long feature by the Brussels director Marc Lobet takes a unique look at childhood, full of humor and attention to the magical beauty of nature. The "Loupiots", a bunch of kids, are fascinated by Hector Malot's book, "Without family" their teacher reads them. They discover in the forest an abandoned child and decide to take care of him, unbeknownst to the adults, in order to spare him the orphanage. They decide to call the kid "Wood Plum".
