These four lectures are conceived to discuss the curatorial and analytical concepts that led to the organization of Body Talk. It addresses the complex legacies of the representation of the black body pervading societal interaction globally and the mythological construction of black female sexuality. It also addresses the passions and contradictions that surround the subject. The over-determination of the African female body through the discussion will situate the genealogy of such constructions and examine the relationship between enduring stereotypes and strategies of liberation through political and social movements, and through art and curatorial practice.
