Description
The two installations presented in Speedy Wash by Laetitia de Chocqueuse
and Fabrice Samyn try to exceed the limits of the finished.
In the window, a hybrid object reminds the former function of the space: two objects which blow soap bubbles in glass. Presented face to face, almost breaking against each other, these mirroring bubbles are tensed, as if ready to fuse Together, they also evoke the shape of a laid down sandglass, symbolizing the crystallization of time. On the wall, an excerpt from a Persan poem is written with breath as metaphor, raises the essential question of the borders. To work with four hands and evoke fusion, to invest a reconverted place and deal with transformation, to deploy fragility in a mixed neighborhood, such are the intentions of the two artists.
Laetitia de Chocqueuse, born in 1983, recently graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Paris. She lives and works in Paris. Her work, both photographic and sculptural, questions reality by testing the places of its possible foundations. Her work was exhibited at the Convent of Cordeliers in 2007.
Fabrice Samyn, born in 1981, graduated from the visual arts school La Cambre, He works and lives in Brussels. Through different media, his work questions time and light or at least tries to contemplate their mystery. He has actively shown his work in Belgium and abroad. His exhibitions include a duo with Kelly Schacht at the Fine Arts Palace of Brussels in 2007, a solo show at his gallery Meessen De Clercq in 2008 and more recently the Ariane de Rothschild Award.
